The phase II of the EU/China COPERT Policy Dialogue Project was finalized in May 2016. The project objective of this phase II was to improve the quality and understanding of China’s national greenhouse emission inventories for road transportation by modelling emissions at the provincial level. More information on the project outputs can be found here.

The project entitled “Preparation of the legal and technical background for a voluntary EU standard for low emitting combustion engine driven cars (EULES)”, under the sponsorship of European Commission, was successfully completed. The final report can be found here.
The final workshop for the project “Exchanging experience between the EU and China on the use of the COPERT model for better National Climate Communications”, supported by the “EU-China Policy Dialogue Support Facility II”, was held in Beijing on the 3rd of February 2016. Dr. Giorgos Mellios gave a presentation on the COPERT model and its use for preparing China’s road transport emissions inventory.

Emisia has co-authored a non-technical guide “explaining road transport emissions”, recently published by the European Environment Agency. The report provides a summary of the current knowledge on vehicle emissions in Europe, it also explains how emissions are monitored and the common technologies used to limit them.
